Today was open day at school , this means we have visitors come in and see our learning. The Choir,Band, Dance Group and Kapa Haka were asked to perform for our visitors. We were asked to arrive in room 6 to have a warm up and a practise at 1:15 pm. I made sure that I arrived at room 6 on time. We  sang three songs Blue Skies, Africa and Purea Nei. I was really proud of myself because I did not have to look at the words many times.  

I showed Excellence because I sang my loudest but nicest. I also showed Active thinking because I kept an eye on the time so I arrived to practice on time.

Peer Mediation

Today I did peer mediation with Daniel and Jade it was one of the best mediation I think I have ever had this term. First we went around the back of the Junior rooms and overall there were about 15 kids going there to go toilet but the doors were locked so I told them the doors are locked we don't have a key and we can't unlock it you will have to go to another classroom to use the toilet. 

I showed integrity because I told them they can use another toilet instead of those ones so they did not go to the teacher and having the teacher deal with them to make it easier. I also showed excellence with helping other people.

Term 2 Novel Study

 This term I have been reading and studying the novel See ya, Simon

I found this novel Interesting because

During the novel I had to complete a thinking map which shows that I can classify how the author has shown the theme of the book.

• I can identify and evaluate the way writers’ use language and ideas to suit their purpose and I can use my growing wide range of academic and content-specific vocabulary to understand texts.
• Overall I would give this novel a rating of  8/10 and I would recommend it to others to read because calm but drama because at some parts it can be calm and at some parts its like whoa were did this com from.

Current Events Term 2, 2017

WALT: I can successfully research a current event.

The National Standard that I have been aiming for during this unit of learning is:

•   Year7/8: I can use appropriate skills and technologies to find and use a range of texts for specific purposes.

 Each week we have read a short text about a current event/ topic. We then formed questions based on what we had read.  After this we researched the answers to our questions and finally we gave our opinions on what we had found out.

My Next Step is to continue to  apply the reading and  research skills that I have learned in a variety of other areas.

Music Term 2

Music Term 2

For Music this term, three things I learnt were:

1. That there a many types of music.

2.Music artsiest come from all over the world.

3. That every song had a message telling people around the world.

Something I found challenging was when we got a sheet that had music artsiest on it and we had to guess whether they were NZ or around the world.

Assessment task: Communicate and interpret locations and directions, using compass directions, distances, and grid references

To complete this task you will need a paper copy of the treasure map - These are in Mrs Stinson's drawer in the Whanau zone -please ask her for one. You will need to complete the task here and add a photo of your treasure map when it is done to this document and then turn in.

My treasure was at Western Hills I got Tanika to find my treasure and she found it!

Peer Meditation Excellance post #5

Today me, Jade and Tanika did peer mediation. Daniel wasn't there so Tanika filled in it's easier with 3 because you can solve more problems.   First we went to the junior playground no problems there. So we went onto the around the back of the junior classes. There were a lot of kids around there so we told them all they could not play there and it was out of bounds and they said okay and went and played in the appropriate area. But when we were sorting something else out 2 people from that group went and played in the toilets. We told them they could not play there again and they said why so we explained and they said okay and went of.

I showed resilience because I did not let them play out of bounds I told them they had to get out. I showed Active thinking asking Tanika to fill in for Daniel to make it easier.
